Environment 2D Concept works

for the environment concept I draw up 8 thumbnail images and one choosen one. I then used the choosen image a  guide to modelling my environement in 3Ds Max.

I did not create a normal map for the glass texture as it did not look right when i placed it onto my model in UDK.





Environment 3D screen shots UDK

this area of the blog shows unfinished renders of my environment they show the modular models without textures. the images have been taken in UDK. however the last couple of images contain some texturing.

the images below show renders of my environment in UDK. the models have been unwrapped and textured and light emissive map have been used to make textures glow. i have created normal maps using crazy bump and have painted the textures using my graphics tablet in Photoshop.

I have used one texture taken from google to create the texture on the tanks then placed an opacity map onto the material in UDK. there are a lot of thing i could do better and would take in to consideration if i was to retake this project, one example being the unwrapping of the models as I could have used more of the space that i had and should have scaled the pieces in the unwrap to size. 


some of my textures look better in some places then others, I would make sure that all of my textures are of the same quality if I was to redo the environment.
same parts of this environment have changed from the 2D concept however i think that the changes make the concept better and are not that noticeable. As my theme is elements of the periodic table i have placed mercy tanks (this is a type of liquid metal found in thermometers) its element name is HG. i have also placed reports on the walls that explain that the people in the lab are experimenting on people using a newly found element that mutated and failed. this experiment is now running round killing and distorting everything.
